Providence, RI (November 27, 2005): The 570-member Rhode Island Reds Heritage Society has unveiled its 5th annual collectible ornament paying tribute to the 51-year history of the of the old R. I. Reds pro hockey team in the American Hockey League. Themed “The Rink: Inside the Auditorium,” the commemorative ornament accurately depicts the arena’s small, 190’ x 85’ ice surface and its intimate seating structure that accommodated 5,300 hockey fans at the old R. I. Auditorium on 1111 North Main Street in Providence. The building served as the team’s home ice from 1926 through 1972 and hosted numerous Sunday night sell-out crowds. The ornament’s design comes from an original painting by Tom Army of East Providence, vice president of the society. It is etched in solid brass, finished in sparking 24 kt gold, and silk-screened in authentic colors. This commemorative is handsomely gift boxed and offered as a limited edition of 250 pieces. The Society’s previous four annual collectible ornaments are either sold out or nearly so. Cost of the new ornament is $15, plus $3 for shipping and handling. Purchasers should add $1 for each additional ornament ordered. Checks should be mailed to R. I. Reds Heritage Society, P. O. Box 167, Barrington, RI 02806.
