Providence, RI (July 26, 2007): The Rhode Island Reds Heritage Society's has announced that its 7th annual reunion on Sunday, August 5 at Goddard State Park in Warwick, is now sold out. As a result, unlike past reunions, tickets will not be sold at the gate. Bill O'Connor, chairman of the event, said today that all 300 tickets have been purchased. It is the first sellout in the seven-year history of the event. "The response has been terrific," said O'Connor, who has headed all of the society's reunions. He attributes the interest to the fact that over 40 former Reds and other ex-pro hockey players are slated to attend. This year's reunion honors nine ex-Reds who have been inducted either into the Hockey Hall of fame in Toronto or the newly established American Hockey League Hall of Fame. Representing the former will be Johnny Bower, Ferny Flaman, Eddie Giacomin, Milt Schmidt and Allan Stanley, plus athletic trainers Peter Demers and Tommy Woodcock. AHL shrine players are Willie Marshall and Gil Mayer. Other players committed to attend are 21 former Reds: Ian Anderson, Stan Baluik, Jimmy Bartlett, Bob Beckett, Al Bentley, Serge Boudreault, Ross Brooks, Bruce Cline, Buzz Deschamps, Marty Gateman, Aldo Guidolin, Bob Leduc, Yves Locas, Don McKenney, Eddie MacQueen, Wayne Muloin, George Ranieri, Bob Robertson, Ray Ross, Chuck Scherza and Eddie Shack. Fourteen players who worked with other pro teams are expected to attend. They are Bill Army, Tim Army, Bill Bennett, Curt Bennett, Harvey Bennett, Jr., Jim Bennett, John Bennett, Steve King, Eddie Lee, Don Mellor, Tom Mellor, Rich Pumple, Jerry Toppazzini and Brad Wilson. |
