Reds Heritage Society’s Web Site Adds More Vintage Film

Providence, RI (May 7, 2006): Web site www.rireds.com, the interactive Internet home of the Rhode Island Reds Heritage Society, last week added vintage film footage of the Reds playing against the Rochester Americans back in the 1963-64 AHL season. The video, approximately one-minute thirty seconds, clearly identifies 12 Reds’ players from the ’63-64 season, along with coach Ferny Flaman, who that year retired
from playing and turned his uniform jersey #3 over to rookie defenseman Gil Moffatt. The Reds’ historical organization added the footage to its original video section, which has clips from the 1947-48 season. Scheduled to be incorporated soon is color video from the 1971-72 season, a game showing the Reds versus the Baltimore Clippers. “We are slowly building an archive of film footage to help enliven the rebirth of the Reds,” said Tom Army, vice president of the 570-member society. “The Reds were so important to Rhode Island for 51 years, and we want to restore their history to all generations.” The society welcomes donations of any Reds’ artifacts from any era, 1926 through 1977.
