Reds Society to Host “Lunch & Crunch” on March 11

Providence, RI (February 11, 2007): The Rhode Island Reds Heritage Society has announced it will hold its 4th Annual “Lunch & Crunch” event on Sunday, March 11.

The all-you-can east lunch will be served at Lancelotta’s Restaurant in North Providence, beginning at 12:15 p.m. Lunch will be followed by a Providence Bruins American Hockey League game against the Lowell Devils at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center at 4:05. Lowell is the top farm club of the National Hockey League’s New Jersey Devils.

Ross Brooks, former great goaltender with both the Reds and Boston Bruins, will be guest speaker at the luncheon. Brooks, a resident of Lincoln, has been a popular figure involved in local hockey since he retired as a player back in 1976. He will talk about his experiences as both a player and coach in hockey.

The Society is also hoping to have a representative of either the P-Bruins and/or Lowell to address Lunch & Crunch attendees for a post-game analysis at The Dunk.

Cost of the event remains at $30 for adults and $15 for children ages 12 and younger. Last year’s event sold out and tickets are limited to 120 persons. Deadline for reservations is March 1.

The event is open to both society members and non-members. For further information call the organization at 401-247-2666 or e-mail UNH1959@aol.com.

The Heritage Society has just begun its seventh year and has more than 600 members. It was formed by seven founders in 2000 with the goal of restoring and perpetuating the 51-year history (1926-1977) of the AHL team.

The organization’s ultimate goal is to create a permanent exhibit honoring the team within a museum setting.
