Reds 3rd Annual “Lunch & Crunch” scheduled for March 26

Providence, RI (January 8, 2006): The Rhode Island Reds Heritage Society has announced plans to hold its 3rd annual “Lunch & Crunch” event on Sunday, March 26.

The all-you-can-eat lunch will be served at Lancelotta’s Restaurant in North Providence, beginning at 12:15 p.m. Lunch will be followed by a Providence Bruins game against the Hartford Wolf Pack at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center at 4:05. Hartford is the top farm club of the National Hockey League’s New York Rangers.

Guest speaker at the luncheon will be David Andrews, president of the American Hockey League, the primary source of player development for the NHL. Andrews, serving his 12th season as head of the AHL, is credited as being the chief architect in the expansion of the league from 16 teams in 1994 to today’s 27-team composition.

The society is also planning to have representatives from the P-Bruins and/or Hartford to address “Lunch & Crunch” attendees for a post-game analysis at “The Dunk.”

Cost of the event is $30 per adult and $15 for children ages 12 and under. Last year’s event sold out and attendance at this year’s luncheon is again limited to 120 persons. The deadline for reservations is March 4.

The event is open to both society members and non-members. For further information call the organization at 401-247-2666 or e-mail UNH1959@aol.com.

The Rhode Island Reds Heritage Society has just begun its sixth year and has over 550 members. It was formed by 8 founders in 2000 with the purpose to restore and perpetuate the 51-year history (1926-1977) of the AHL team. The organization’s ultimate goal is to create a permanent exhibit within a museum setting in Rhode Island.
