Buster Clegg Named Recipient of 2020 Chace Award

Providence, RI (3/12/2020): The RI Hockey Hall of Fame has announced that Barrington, RI's, Sylvester “Buster” Clegg, former GM of the RI Reds and founder/president of the RI Reds Heritage Society, has been selected the recipient of the 2020 Malcolm Greene Chace Memorial Trophy recognizing “Achievement and Outstanding Service by a Rhode Islander to the Game of Hockey”.

Rick Middleton and Vin Cimini Get 2019 Tops Awards

Providence, RI (7/8/2019): The "Tops Award" is the most prestigious accolade presented by the Rhode Island Reds Heritage Society at its annual reunion of former Reds' players and is usually presented to one person. This year it will go to two deserving individuals who have contributed greatly to hockey in the manner of the late great Zellio Toppazzini, the Reds all-time leading scorer for whom the honor is named.

Acciari the Panther to Get Native-Born Hockey Award

Providence, RI (7/3/2019): Noel Acciari may be going South for the winter, but he'll be sticking around Rhode Island at least through Sunday, August 4, when he'll receive the Rhode Island Reds Heritage Society's native-born hockey achievement award at Goddard State Park in Warwick. The event is part of the society's 19th annual reunion of fans and former players.

Providence, RI (6/26/2019): The Rhode Island Reds Heritage Society will present its 2019 Rhode Island Native-Born Achievement Award to Boston Bruins forward Noel Acciari on August 4th as part of its 19th annual reunion weekend. Acciari is expected to be on hand to accept the award at the annual Goddard State Park event.

Reds Add 27th Player for Reunion August 5

Providence, RI (7/18/2018): Ron Garwasiuk, who became an American Hockey League scoring star in the 1970s, will join 26 other former pro players expected to attend the Rhode Island Reds Heritage Society's 18th annual reunion at Goddard State Park in Warwick on Sunday, August 5. He and his wife will be coming in from Edmonton, Alberta in Canada, traveling the furthest distance (over 2,000 miles) of any out-of-town visiting player this year.

Providence, RI (7/16/2018): A fan, or fanatic, is a person who is enthusiastically devoted to the cause. This year's Frank E. McCaffrey memorial "Fan of the Year" awards will be presented to Helen Duffy, wife of George Patrick Duffy, the "Radio Voice of the Rhode Island Reds," Marielle Mayer, wife of the late Gilles Mayer, Reds outstanding and impenetrable goalie, and Shirley Toppazzini, wife of the late Zellio Toppazzini, Reds' "Player of the Century."

Heritage Society Launches new "Save a Hockey Life" AED Seminar Series

Providence, RI (12/7/2017): In keeping with its extended mission to promote safe play at all levels of the game, our Heritage Society organized and produced the first in a series of free seminars on the importance and proper use of a life-saving AED (Automated External Defibrillator) at the Levy Ice Rink in Burrillville on Nov 28, 2017. Providence, RI (4/22/2012): Jerry Toppazzini, a former American Hockey League player and coach who played more than 700 games in the NHL, died Saturday, April 21, after a brief illness, the Sudbury, Ontario, Star has reported.

Providence, RI (7/27/2011): Led by Hockey Hall of Fame members Johnny Bower and Ferny Flaman, the R, I, Reds Heritage Society has announced that it expects 34 ex-Reds and other pro hockey greats to attend its 11th annual reunion weekend, August 5-7.

Bower, Cline and MacQueen to receive 2011-12 Tops Awards

Providence, RI (7/1/2011): The R. I. Reds Heritage Society has named its “Tops Award” selections for 2011-12: Johnny Bower, Bruce Cline and Eddie MacQueen – all great players and generous volunteers for worthy charities in their native Canadian communities. The award’s conditions match the criteria needed to earn the honor dedicated to the memory of the late Zellio “Topper” Toppazzini, voted the greatest player in the Reds’ 51-year history.

Lou Lamoriello to Receive Special Reds Society Award

Providence, RI (6/24/2011): In recognition of his enormous hockey accomplishments, the R. I. Reds Heritage Society will present Lou Lamoriello with its second “R. I. Native-Born Hockey Achievement Award” at the society’s 11th annual reunion at Goddard State Park in Warwick on August 7. Last year’s inaugural award was awarded to ex-Olympian goaltender, Sara DeCosta.

Historic R. I. Auditorium Replica Plaque Now on Sale to the Public

Providence, RI (6/3/2011): The Rhode Island Reds Heritage Society has announced it will now offer to the general public the purchase of a replica of the commemorative plaque that stands at the site of the old R. I. Auditorium, 1111 North Main Street in Providence, home of the R. I. Reds pro hockey team for 46 years.

Bill Lee to Headline at Heritage Society Reunion Barbecue
